for the philosoph. worke octob 27 1620

first Take Crude ☿ \of crude mercury ℥iij/ clense him thoroughly w^th salt & vinegar & then dissolve him in a Corosive water. And afterward when it is well dissolved into a water then Take y^t ☿ dissolved into a water, poure of or draw of his water. & then put on him fresh \his first former/ corosive water as mutch as will over coaver him 4 fingers bredth then by often cohobation Dra{w} it of & on vntill it be reduced into an oyly substance, \putting him betwixt 2 crucibles luted w^th fire over & vn{der}/ Then seale it vp & keepe it first in a fur{nace} for 6 weekes lastly make the {sic} \a/ stronger fyre for 6 weekes len{gth} put into 2 vrynall well luted w^ch have great bottom{s} & keepe fyre vnder & over. in maner & forme as is before p^rscribed

Then take of silver \well/ purifyed & clensed ℥j dissolve it in his p^r Corosive water as mutch as will coa{ver} him over 4 fingers bredth & worke him in every resp{ect} as you did y^r ☿. & then by often cohobation reduce him into an oyly substance & lastly add him & lastly adde him vnto the ☿ wrought as before & then seale {it} vp & 6 weekes put an lentus ignis & after increase it 6 w{eekes} more & lastly a stronger fire 6 other weekes vntill he f{inally} open it & put a drop or two on burning hot Iron & if it fume n{ot} then it is fixed. if it fume put it in vntill it fix.

Lastly Take of ☉ ℥ß dissolve him in aq Reg. then d{raw} away his water & then by often Cohobation bring him in{to} an oyly subst then clense the glas & put then add it vnto the silver & clense it vp surely & first make a lentꝯ ign{is} for 4 weekes & then a greater fyre for 4 other weekes & so vse it vntill it be fixed. you may trye a drop {or} two on a hot plate

Then melt ☿ purged ℥iij ℥x.

bring all into oyles & then put all togeather into a glasse imp p{illeg} vp or els 2 vrinals w^th blood {illeg} {Cottons} by degres of fire 4 w{eekes} & increase 4 weekes & then 4 weekes stronger

I doe suppose y^t all the materials as ☿ ☾ & ☉ must each of them by there p^r Corosives be first dra p^rcipitated into a calx. then drawing away of there Corosives & sweeting them w^th hot water vntill there saltnes be washed of

Then strong spiritꝭ of wyne must be powred on each. 4 fingers breadth & then vsed as before

Dissolve them w^th corrosives w^thout sweetning & cohobate them into an oyle w^th on & the same corrosive. vnt adding the

Take Doctor Anth calcined powders of ☉ & ☾ & put on them there p^r corrosives waters & by often cohobation bring them into an oyly substance. adding as is before syd {sic} the oyle of silv^r to the oyle of ☿ vntill they boath be fixed then lastly ad the oyle of ☉ & fix all togeath^r as before

Then weigh the materials & adde as mutch ☿ Clensed & worke them togeather betwxt {sic} 2 crucibles w^th fire over & vnder let the fire be indiff for a fortnight

Then cast of your elixir ℥j on ☿ clensed ℥x. betwixt 2 crucibles w^th fire over & vnder for the space of a fortnight w^th an indiff fire & so you

It may be y^t ☾ so mutch of ☾ should be brought to an oyle or els ☾ powdred & purifyed should be melted \or brought to a calx/ & then the whole Elixir added to the {sic} this betwxt {sic} 2 crucibles for a fortnight. & then an Equall weight of ☿ purifyed to be added. |{illeg}glas {nipped} vntill {illeg} fixe {illeg} it| of this I am not certe.

put after ☿ in his corrosive water & silver in his corros & ☉ in his his putting on still fresh water by often cohobat vntill it comes to an oyly substance. & then put all 3 togeath^r
