Mr Sandy: I have sent by this bearer vnto you the figure of my daughters nativity, wch was taken precisely by instrument, and heretofore approved by accident. She is troubled wth an exceeding cough, wch at the first was ioyned wth a fever. Nowe I thinke the fever hath left hir: but she raiseth in coughing much Phlegme wth paine by strayning his body, and she is almost pined away to nothing. So farre forth as I can iudge by Astrologie, wherein I have formerly taken some paines, I thinke hir infirmitie ceedeth, partly in that hir figure hath conformity wth the Eclipse in August above written (whose effects are nowe a working according to the doctrine of Ptolemie) partly from a particular cause in the geniture it self viz Directio Horoscopi ad Lancem Astralem & Saturni transitus per oppositum gradus directionis, quo tempore mortus eam primo invasit. It may please you to iudg by yor skill in Phisick whether she be likely to recover this disease or not. When the ascendant (wch only heere is rogator of life) shall meet wth the □ of ♂ & seconded by a sesquiquadrate of Saturne, I thinke hir life will be in great hazzard: but that shall not happen till she be ten yeares old. But being yet vnder foure yeares of age, considering so terrible occurses doe so neerely followe I suspect the worst & crave yor opinion herein: F;or Plus vident oculi quam oculus. And I think the weake sextile of ♃ being in his detriment & occidentall will not suffice to dissolve so forcible causes of evill So wishing yor helth & happyness, I take my leave
Thornton this 1. of May 1617.
Yors to com̄ande
