Take the nūbers of the letters of the fathers name & of the mothers name & if they be even, if it be the first child then shee is w^th childe of a mayde, if od of a boy exāp. if Ihon & Elisabeth the nūber of the letters of Iohn are 5. & of Elisab. 10. w^c being added togeath^r. doe make 15. w^c is od, therf we say shee is w^th child w^th a boy But if the woman had on child or more before then you shall ad to there names the nūber of her last child & therby you shall knowe where the next l {sic} child shalbe a boy or a mayde as if Iohn & Elisab. had last a child whose name was wiliam w^c hath 6 letters put this to the 15 & it maketh 21. w^c is also odde & therf her next child shal be a boy also:
