Richard Napier The Earle of Ess set forw. from plimmoth to towardes his voyage bending to Cast Cales & so to his voyag onward. the 23 of July. beinge satterday. 5. h. 30 mi aurora & so went forward with prosp. winds that satterday & sunday. on munday following the skye clouded & misted & grew blacker & blacker. on tuesday the 26 of July all the fore noone exceeding windes hurling & tossing them. to & fro. which made thē brake there tops & b caused them to cut there gabels & {left} adast agaynst our owne reckes within two miles of Plimothe 1 a pinnes called the tobacco pipe & 1 3 hollanders ships & by leaking almost endangered the gener. ship. that with mutch a doe was saved & this winde drove them back againe into almost within the harbour of plimouth on the 27 of July fell arose an exceeding winde & a great tempest of reane as if heaven & yearth should goe togeather the forenoone.
They set off again on Saturday 23 July at 6.30am [making for?] the sea route.
