Rich Sampson shewed yt quick silv{er} is first 6 houres to be put in to water {w}{illeg} greene twice asmutch in weight of yr Copporas to the weight of yr quicks{ilver} & then you must put your quicks{ilver} all in a longe rowe & draw over it a copper wyer of a great lenght{e} & then yr {illeg}|q|uicksilvr woul will be taken vp wth yr coppr wyer & then when yr melting pot & pipe yt gre{illeg} into the pot is as hot as the fyer of the same colour wth the fyer & you wth all Diligently observe & ceave that yr quicksilver wch lyeth in that pot as{illeg} it is put in for the space of 12 houres a{p}peare onc to be of a yellowish colour then put \cast/ prsently into it the pipe a Dish of cold watr & quench it & then afterward fall into the fyer et fiet vere a{illeg} et fixū et malleo \vere/ tractabile.

also the oare of lead washed well wth wa{illeg} & cast into a pot will in short tyme turn to true arg. & yet the lead still remeane
